"God At Work" [January, 2008] God is an amazing God.  He is awesome in His working in our lives.  Dr. Blackaby in his Study Bible says;  "God's call on a life is specific, extensive, thorough, and eternal.  A life set apart by God cannot remain the same.  Moreover, when we respond to God's call, the Kingdom of God will not remain the same." A good example of this truth is the life of Abraham, the friend of God.  God touched Abraham...

"Call To Prayer: 10 Days to Pentecost" [April, 2005] Pentecost was the single most powerful event in the birthing of the Christian Church. The challenge of Jesus to His followers prior to Pentecost was to wait in Jerusalem and pray (Acts 1:4-5) for the promised Holy Spirit from God the Father. "Before the first Pentecost, believers gathered for ten days of united, Christ-focused prayer. Filled with the same hope of God fulfilling His promises for all the earth, millions of Christians will be uniting in prayer for ten days, May 6-15, 2005. To focus and unite prayers for our world."

"The Purpose of the Cross" [March, 2005]In a few weeks, we will once again focus specifically on the death of Jesus Christ on the cross and then His resurrection. Like Christmas, the Easter focus comes back to a central theme. The theme is: Jesus' death and resurrection provide for our salvation and the forgiveness of our sin. The power of His sacrifice on the cross is so important to our faith. Jesus was God’s final sacrifice for the atonement of our sin. God has no other plan whereby you and I may be saved. May I encourage you to seek Jesus with all your heart and be totally committed to Him? Have you asked for His forgiveness of your own sin?

"Stewardship? Does This Mean I Should Be Giving?" [February, 2005] Stewardship, as found in the scriptures, focused on the watchful care of some thing or money. One passage focused on the three different men who were given talents (money)-10 talents to one, 5 talents to another and 1 talent to the third man (Matt. 25:15). The lesson focused on how well these men handled their responsibility of the master’s money. Another passage, (LK 16:2) presents a case of how to be responsible, and the promise if you are faithful over small things God will grant you greater things. 1 Peter 4:10 presents a case for stewardship with God's grace.

"The Old and the New" [January, 2005] We come to the close of another year, and we look back at the things that have been part of the days. Some we may regret, because we failed to match God’s promise with the circumstances we faced. We may regret some word spoken hastily; a word that, if given more thought, would not have been spoken. Maybe, there were times when we took the easy way instead of the way that was more difficult, but it did not bring the joy and blessing the harder way would have given us.

"All This Attention On A Baby" [December, 2004] As we think of the upcoming Christmas celebration, we are confronted again with a lot of focus on a little baby. For people who do not know this baby, they may not be too impressed. When some think of this celebration that has occurred for thousands of years, they may think Christians are a bit obsessive or possessive. By the way, what do you think of this little baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and placed in a manger? I know...

"God's Powerful Word" [October, 2004] Have you ever just paused to think of how powerful the Word of God really is? Have you ever stopped long enough to realize that the reading of His Word, the preaching of His Word and the simple sharing of the scripture has changed many people? Do you know that there was a time in church history that corrupt priests and preachers were not willing to allow the people to really "know" Gods Word. People could not have a copy of the Bible like we...

"A New Season" [September, 2004] September is one of my favorite months. It starts a season of change for fall and winter. The weather starts to be a bit cooler and the trees start to change color. Soon there will be some different festivals that tend to have come from harvest time celebrations. Now is the beginning of the time for farmers to gather a harvest after all the earlier hard work has long been done.

"Summer's Coooooooooooool " [July & August, 2004] Here we are, just beginning the summer season. What fond memories I have of how cool summer was. Remember when we waited for school to get out. Remember how often we got to do things like fish all day, camp out any night , play ball for hours, ride that bicycle everywhere and pick empty pop bottles up along the way to exchange for a coke, candy bar and a pack of baseball cards. Summer is cool. With our horses...

"Mission: VBS " [June 2004] As we take off in these beginning days of June here at Zelie Naz, we are going to embark upon a very special mission. That Mission is VBS! Our space station will enroll the likes of boys and girls of various ages. Their backgrounds will be diverse. Some may appear to come from another world. (pun intended) The reality is some will come from a different world than you may be used to. Some may come from, as Paul stated, "the former life-form you...

"Will You Wait Until Revival Comes?" [May, 2004] - I cannot think of a better way to enter a new church year! Waiting on the Lord until Revival comes. We have spent the last twelve weeks in prayer on Wednesdays, in a home and with the men’s and ladies' groups. We have had people praying for specific things and hopefully in some groups. Prayer is a very necessary ingredient to God working to renew and revive His people. I am reminded of Nehemiah sitting before the ruins of Jerusalem. Waiting for God to direct him for a revival...

"A Celebration Of Ministry" [April, 2004] - Ministry is our act of service to our family; work associates; fellow students; and contacts we make in our community when at the library, getting gas, groceries or any other place we come in contact with people. These areas of ministry are personal first, but then these extended contacts should become a part of the church.

"Love, Sweet Love" [February, 2004] - What a theme for the month of February. Depending on who you are or what you forget, the theme may be “Love Sweet Love” or “Groundhog Day”. It is amazing that in our culture the focus is on Love. The messages sent to our sweethearts are of love. Gifts promote a message of love. Songs reflect the hope of love. Acts of kindness reveal a hint of love. Yet the reality is people are starving for love. Why the starvation you ask?

"Well We Might As Well Face It: He Ain't Coming This Year!" A Sad End To The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year. [December 2003] - Growing up in our household as a kid was the most wonderful time. The radio filled our house with Christmas carols and the sound of KDKA in the morning as the collection for Children’s Hospital took place. Our yard was decorated with lights, Santa and reindeer...

"Gratitude Is an Attitude" [November 2003] - Perhaps you remember the story about the time Jesus met up with ten men who had the disease of leprosy. They all asked for his mercy and pity (asking to be healed). Jesus honored their request by requesting they go to the priests and on their way they were all healed. What might your request be today? The Lord may be willing to grant it. ASK HIM!

"Who Is That Behind the Mask?" [October 2003] - Soon the end of the month will come and many will participate in Halloween. I am not sure what all of your feelings are on the subject, and I wish not to be offensive. My desire is to draw from the time and write an appropriate article that can encourage the Christian to share Christ’s love. So, who is behind your mask? Ponder the question a while.
