| presents a case of how
to be responsible, and the promise if you are faithful over
small things God will grant you greater things. 1 Peter
4:10 presents a case for stewardship with God's grace.
Does this mean I/we should be giving? The answer in part
is “yes.” We can never out give God, but we
can sure have a lot of fun trying, though, and receive many
a blessing! Our church has presented many opportunities
for you to be a steward! The initial area is tithing. The
truth is, we have a lot of work to do in this area. Not
because of a lack of tithe or tithers. There is a small
problem here. To reach our financial goals set by the growth
plan, a focus will be forth-coming in this area. The real
work we need to focus on is teaching how tithing and giving
ties in with all of stewardship. You have been faithful
stewards in support of missions, in doing some of the service
work around the church and in providing a good atmosphere
to teach God's word. Now, as we reach out to more people,
the stewardship focus is extended to 1 Peter 4:10 "As
every man has received the gift, even so minister the same
one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of
God." (KJV) What ever gift you have received, you are
now called upon to extend, or give, to another.
How does this tie into overall stewardship? You see the
challenge is not only on money. Jesus, told the scribes
and Pharisees concerning tithing, "This you know you
should do!" He expects nothing less from us! But, in
the big picture the church will be a wonderful place for
worship when we learn all the ways of giving, receiving
and managing all God has entrusted to us. This covers time,
talent and treasure.
You have something God has given to you that will benefit
the ministry of the church. Could you be persuaded to come
forward and let the Pastor know so we can use you. Is it
music, a way of service, a new ministry focus, more faithfulness
in giving, your tithe, or something else. Be a good steward
over your gift and give it (use it) for the benefit of others.
We are to be found faithful in all God grants to us.
Prayerfully Serving You,
-Rev.
