"A New Season"
September, 2004

September is one of my favorite months. It starts a season of change for fall and winter. The weather starts to be a bit cooler and the trees start to change color. Soon there will be some different festivals that tend to have come from harvest time celebrations. Now is the beginning of the time for farmers to gather a harvest after all the earlier hard work has long been done.

You have guessed correctly if you think I am going to challenge us to look for a harvest in the church. I think there has been a lot of hard work this year that has provided a field to harvest. We have planted seed in our ladies’ group, our men’s group and our children’s ministries. We have had new families come into the church and have established some positive contacts. You have given and supported works in missions and the district church work. You have given that repairs and new items were provided to enhance our ministry and make our worship settings better. Now the season is changing. Life is slowing down some and people have settled a bit from vacations and summer activities. Time to reap the harvest.

It is one thing to see a harvest time coming; It is another to reap that harvest. There is work involved, but if we work together, the task will be easy. Where will you jump in? What will you be able to do to help? Begin to do what you can to reap the harvest. Be friendly, make fellowship happen, invite friends and new parishioners. Build a strong community by loving others. Pray for new salvation and for God to work in the lives of His people. Enjoy the new changes. It will be a new season around here.

Joyfully Serving,

-Rev. Gene Hill, Pastor
