"Summer's Coooooooooooool "
July & August, 2004

Here we are, just beginning the summer season. What fond memories I have of how cool summer was. Remember when we waited for school to get out. Remember how often we got to do things like fish all day, camp out any night , play ball for hours, ride that bicycle everywhere and pick empty pop bottles up along the way to exchange for a coke, candy bar and a pack of baseball

cards. Summer is cool. With our horses, we would do long trail rides, swim in the creek and cook out over a camp fire. I even remember laying on the bank in our yard and watching those big puffy clouds pass as we would try to picture things in their shapes.

I wonder sometimes now if I'll ever find the time just to mow the grass or trim the bushes and glimpse at a passing cloud hoping to get done before the rain. Oh, you can relate to that too? Well, summer is still cool. Actually, it has been only a week since summer started. That means we have from now until the last week of September to officially enjoy summer. Relax. Such a strange word in our vocabulary, isn't it? But we, or at least I, do make life too fast paced. There needs to be time to rest, relax, vacation and enjoy the things of God. He is a great creator. See all he has done for you. Enjoy summer’s "COOL," a lawn chair, a trip to the lake (fish a while), leave your work at home on your family vacation (experience Gods gift of life), enjoy life and enter His rest.

Summer provides a chance to enjoy our independence, to celebrate a night sky full of lights, kids outside loving life, building memories and eventually waiting for summer’s end. Summer, so cool, has prepared them for school. Rather than fitting more into a longer, bright day, take time to pause, even stop, and enjoy the presence of the Lord– loving Him for what he has provided- and let the Lord build fond memories, create new dreams and let you play awhile. Sometimes, we think we are too big for summer, but we need some more summers to learn to enjoy life and God’s blessings. Summer is cool!

Enjoy Until Fall,
