Greetings to you. Thank you for this opportunity to introduce myself as your new Pastor. My name is Gene Hill. For twenty years I have had the wonderful opportunity to answer the call to Pastor. I now have the joy of being your Pastor. My ministry has included a call to start a homeless work with the American Rescue Workers Mission in McKee's Rocks. Beth, my wife, and I also are currently employed by East Liberty Family Health Care Center. This is a Christian health center whose mission is to serve the uninsured and underinsured of the community. We love serving people for Jesus

Christ. Places of service began for us in Kingston Springs, Tennessee in June, 1983. I then served in Sligo, PA., Williamsport, PA. and Allison Park, PA.

I came into the Church through a softball ministry. It was through this ministry that Christ saved me, called me to preach and introduced me to my wonderful wife. We have a beautiful daughter, Kelly. She lives in Mt. Lebanon. I am the product of a sports activity that someone saw as a means of ministry to a teen who needed Jesus. You see, people build the kingdom by loving people. This should be the goal of the church: "Meeting the needs of people!" Laymen reaching laymen.

Beth and I share our ministry together. We both have different gifts and interests but serve together. We find great joy in serving people. I have had the joy of serving in my community as well as in my church. Each community ought to enjoy the service of all the people of the church. You and I, as Christians, are the salt of the earth. Your community needs you! Be involved. I also look forward to serving with you as you serve others. Everyone needs a church sometime! Someone you know needs to find Jesus as their Savior. You can lead that person to Christ and His Church.

My basic thoughts about ministry are rather simple. Ministry is: "MEETING THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE!" There are various examples of this in scripture. Meeting people's needs opens so many opportunities for the church to love people, teach them God's Word, lead them to the Savior and to involve them in the life-flow of the Church. An effective church recognizes the gifts of people, provides places of service and enjoys the fellowship of believers. Children and teens are the church today and should be given opportunities to serve. Senior citizens have so much to offer from life’s experiences and should seek to share their faith and wisdom. Young adults and single adults have the responsibility of developing a church that is relevant to the society we live in. The Church is built by the people. Your church can do the impossible and accomplish great things for God. You can make it that way.

The Lord used the common people of the day to start the Church. Note, He did note go to the scribes and Pharisees who were the "Religious People" of the day. He was the friend of sinners. He went to fisherman, tax collectors, a doctor and people of various other backgrounds to start His Church. Why? I believe it was to prove the people are the Church. You are the Church. I am looking forward to serving with you.

Joyfully Serving;
Pastor Gene Hill
